West Coast Women’s Refuge Services

We have women’s advocates, child advocate and a male advocate who work with victims and perpetrators of family violence coast wide.

Our Women’s advocate works alongside women who are the victims or perpetrators of family violence offering:

  • Support and advocacy
  • Information and advice
  • Support in your home or ours
  • Referrals to other services
  • Safety plans
  • Women’s education programmes
  • Access to our legal portal
  • Assistance in getting court orders
  • Access to our National Home Safety Service (Whanau Protect)
  • Support at court, appointments or meetings

Our Male advocate works alongside the males that are involved in any family violence incident reported to police, and work with both the perpetrators of family violence and male victims, providing:

  • Support and advocacy
  • Information and advice
  • Referrals to other services
  • Access to our legal portal (family matters only)
  • Safety plans
  • Access to our National Home Safety Service (Whanau Protect)
  • Support at court, appointments or meetings

Our 24 hour crisis line is open to anyone, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year

  • Assisted to develop a safety plan

Our children’s advocate is child focused and will work with children from 5—12 yrs delivering our Tamariki education programmes for children who witness family violence.

We offer 2 different programmes

  • Stepping stones Tamariki Programme for children 5-8 yrs
  • Sweet As Tamariki Programmes for Children 9 -12 yrs

Whanau protect is a NCIWR service offering safety home upgrades to victims to Family Violence. There is a criteria to receive this service, please call us to discuss this more

We offer a portal (digital media) service to a legal firm in Christchurch that offers legal
Advice and assistance for matters and Orders pertaining to Family Violence (legal Aid criteria apply)
